Hopefully by now we’ve shown you that being bald definitely has its perks. If you’re still not totally convinced, here’s another one: being bald can give you an advantage in business.

According to that University of Pennsylvania study that we’ve talked about a few times, men with shaved heads are perceived as more dominant and, in some instances, as possessing more leadership potential. This perception can be attributed in part to the fact that bald men went out and did something about their situation and embraced it, rather than futilely attempting to cover it up

This perceived dominance gives bald guys a distinct advantage in the business world, as bald men carry a more confident, powerful, and authoritative presence. The UPenn study also cites the logical conclusion that because dominant figures fare better in bargaining situations, men with shaved heads will tend to have more success negotiating. Several executives in large companies say that they were treated differently after shaving their head, citing that it helped them look younger and garner more respect.

In addition to the more dominant perception, bald guys also have an advantage due to the sense of community that is felt among the bald population. We all immediately identify the other bald guys in the room and it is a great conversation starter. In business, these conversations with other bald guys present networking opportunities and tremendous connections that you will have as you continue your career. One moment you’re bonding over your baldness, and the next thing you know you’re being offered a job. There may be other some steps in between but you get the idea.

If you’re still not convinced about the bald business benefits, you just have to look at some of the top businessmen in the world. Jeff Bezos (Amazon CEO and current richest man in the world), Steve Balmer (former Microsoft CEO and current owner of the LA Clippers), Satya Nadella (current Microsoft CEO), Lloyd Blankfein (current Goldman Sachs CEO), and David Solomon (current Goldman COO and Blankfein’s successor) are just a few bald heads atop some of the largest companies in the world.

The business benefits associated with being bald are clearly evident and though they may not be huge, in business any minor advantage can make an enormous difference.
